Vinny Jeffreys Carp Angler and fisherman.

I met  Vinny on the phone one night after a mutual friend said to call. I had been wanting to do a story on Carp fishing ever since I met a carp fisherman while ice fishing.   Vinny, also a top carp angler, and a representative of K-1 Boilies, was willing to share his knowledge with me. I was surprised to learn that we would be fishing right out behind his apartment in downtown Lowell. We were on to big fish immediately. I didn't realize at the time that Vinny gave up 2 American Carp League fish that weighed almost 40 pounds, to me. He belongs to the American Carp Society and the Carp Anglers Group.

Carp Fishing by Foot the Lowell Way

Vinny fishes for many species as do most of us, but Carp are his passion.

My first koi!

Vinny is well known across the country having fished in many of the top venues.

Lowell is my turf and I know all the swims in town.

Vinny is a real pro and an excellent guide. He knows his waters

Vinny uses the "hand" brake to slow down the fish.

Again from behind, keep pressure as the fish runs leaning in the direction you need to keep him away from structure that is sure to break you off.

Vinny as guide and teacher, teaches Elmer what and what not to do.

                                              Good pose.                                                                  BAD pose

Both Elmer and Mar-e learned the art of netting Vinny's fish and there was plenty of practice.

Vinny knows all the tricks to bring the big ones to the net.

"Learning to catch big fish on a regular basis takes time,  Elmer"
