Boston Big Game's Annual Monster Shark Tournament on Martha's Vineyard a complete success!

www.bitemebaitco.com would like to thank Steven James for the event results at the bottom of this page.

People were coming and going in all directions this weekend on the Vineyard. The Boston Big Game Monster Shark Tournament was on the Island.

There was plenty to see and do for the people onshore waiting for the boat's to start coming in. It was a beautiful weekend weather wise and the spectators came out in droves. Edgartown Light is always a popular attraction for the beach lovers. And the long sandy beach Katama on the south side of the island was packed.

Everyone had their gear in top shape and there was plenty of bait and chum and souvenirs available from some of the best shops on the Island.

This young lady caught herself a shark and the smile tells all. Some of the early boats in had some big fish and the team of experts were put to work weighing and measuring every shark brought in. Samples of blood and tissue will be tested for disease, pollutants, sex, age and recorded. This can give biologists the needed information to keep the ocean fish healthy or get an early signal that pollution is either increasing or decreasing, allowing for possible interventions sooner.

Here a team processes a thrasher shark, taking needed samples and measurements.

Edgartown is one of New England's prettiest harbors and well organized to serve the onslaught of summer visitors. Ferrys run all day and into the evening bring people to and from the various landings. Wood's Hole is the start and ending point for your Martha's Vineyard adventure and that is one of the Cape Cod's gems also. So check it out too as you are coming and going.

Lots of boat's in Edgartown harbor.

That would be Utopia for the Bite Me Bait Co crew!

One of the Nantucket Lightships makes a home in Vineyard  Haven.

Around every corner is another great view. This guy even brought the ironing board and put it to use.

Some of the locals took great interest in what was going on, but some others just had the usual summer fun that all kids have.

The homes and gardens on the island are quite beautiful!

Water, water everywhere and sail boats, ferries, motorboats, jet skis using it to the fullest!

Save the date for next year and use whatever means of transportation to get there.
