Fishing Boston harbor is always a treat. If your lucky enough to be out on the 4th of July you get the best show for your fishing time. But fishing the harbor is about the "Birds". Where are they and what are they doing? Well one of the first places to be is at the east end of Long Island. From there with a good set of binoculars you can see birds working for many miles. Sometimes you find them out in the north channel, sometimes in at Deer Island, sometimes they are in one place and sometimes they are everyplace.

Once you find them the fun begins! Many of the stripers causing the feeding frenzy are just "schoolies" What we hope to catch are bigger than these.

We pulled these babies out of Boston harbor right along Castle island. The beautiful Boston skyline has many historical buildings that can be can be spotted. The Custom House, the Old North Church, and the Bunker hill Monument make up just the "Biggies) Various ships including Queen Mary II come into port on a regular basis. Often you can catch fish right in the same basin next to the boat.

Long Island Light, Boston Light, and the Graves make up the best. There is also deer light and Minot's Light can be seen off to the south from the harbor mouth. Some of the harbors best fishing can be found around the many islands that dot the area. The Great Brewster Spit is one such area. This long "bar" runs nearly a mile from Brewster Island toward George's Island. Speaking of George's Island, one of Rockland's Finest has managed the island for a long time. Bill Mc Cormack knows the islands inside and out and is a wealth of information. Back to fishing. Other areas that hold big fish are the Deer Island rip, the Roaring Bulls, and even up under the Mystic Bridge and the Charles River dam and locks.
Get out and enjoy some of the best scenery in the country! Some of Massachusetts best fishing!
