The "Bite Me" Bait Company's 2004 Spring Invitational Striped Bass Tournament was won by "George the Jumper." George's fish was 33 inches long, 9lbs 9oz. All fishing is done from shore and all fishermen must be within sight of at least two other fishermen at all times. And that gets tough after dark. Some schoolies were being caught, but nothing of any size. "George the Jumper" wasn't even in the water and we wondered if he was going to give it a go. But even in the dark we could see him studying the water. Suddenly his head perked up and he started to get his gear together. He didn't have his chunk of bait in the water for 2 minutes when he had the winner on. The only blemish to the night, oh wait, one of the blemishes on the night was the unsuccessful debut of the all new "Floating Bib Boots" Rock Bottom barely avoided the bottom with some really fancy footwork. It wasn't completely apparent why they failed but replays of the incident hint to operator error. However reassignments were discussed.
