Autumn in New England

Hancock Hill in the Blue Hills

&

Governor's Lookout

a picture story

Autumn is such a pretty time to enjoy one of eastern Massachusetts finest assets.

Start at HQ next to the horse barn at the state police office and pick up your trail map.

Off we go!

All trails are well marked.

Oh Oh this a steep one.

                Let's go this way.

A steady climb takes you to the top of Hancock Hill meeting up with the blue dot trail.

The trail leading to Governor's Lookout is a little difficult to find but it is marked on your trail map as a dotted line bearing right of the main trail. Your patience will be rewarded with beautiful vistas from the Worcester Hills to the  Boston skyline and Quincy Bay and on to the North Shore.

The Blue Dot trail has two branches in this areas and provides a challenge to hikers who are training to do the Appalachian Trail.

There was so much color in every direction that it was torture on the neck. But it was worth it.

Many schools in the area bring their students on outings here. It is a great experience for the students to climb to the top of the hill they are on and see the world at large. Bring your own family or a friend and see for yourself the beauty and majesty of the Blue Hills.
